Eastern High School Announcements

*Eastern High School Driver’s Education Enrollment forms can be picked up in the High School office. Forms must be returned by March 21 to the High School Office. If you have any questions, you can email Ms. Carpenter or Mr. Bedwell.

*There will be a call out meeting for boys and girls middle school track on Wednesday, March 5th during middle school lunches and after school in the cafeteria on Thursday, March 6th at 3:30p.

*Middle School boys’ soccer will be having tryouts on Monday, March 3 right after school until 5:00 at the High School soccer fields.

*Attention all prospective baseball players not currently involved in a winter sport.  Open field will take place Tuesday and Thursday of this week from 3:30 to 5:30. We will meet outside at the field each day.

*There will be a call out meeting for boys and girls middle school track on Wednesday, March 5th during middle school lunches and after school in the cafeteria on Thursday, March 6th at 3:30p.

*Middle School FCS will be meeting on February 27 right after school in Ms. Carpenter’s room. All middle school students are invited to join us for fellowship and fun!

*If you ride Bus #15, you will be on bus #4 this afternoon.

*This past Saturday was the State ISSMA Vocal/Piano Contest.

Eastern had nine events in the competition and had a great day.

Medals were awarded to the following students.

Gold medals with distinction were awarded to:

Eli Alexander for his vocal solo

Macey Reynolds for her vocal solo

Porter Stone for his piano solo

And the ensemble of: Porter Stone, Eli Alexander, Gabe Jaworski, Zach

Kimbrough, Kaiden Petty, Aiden Paul, Kaeden Romero, & Drew Conner

Gold medals were awarded to:

Julia Salkie for her vocal solo

Brynn Shepherd for her vocal solo

Kaiden Petty for his vocal solo

And the ensemble of: Eli Alexander, Zach Kimbrough, Kaiden Petty, and

Drew Conner

Silver medals were awarded to the ensemble of:

Emelia Flook, Teagan Bedwell, Eli Alexander, and Kaeden Romero

Congratulations to all of these students for their hard work and dedication and a

great representation of our school in vocal music.

*The boys swim team finished out their season with a 7th place finish at the tough Carmel sectional.  Individually, Caden Kerns took 12th place in both of his individual events, Amos Greene placed 8th in diving, Dylan Foland placed 10th in diving, Grant Kerns finished in 10th in the 50 free, and 7th in the 100 free with a new school record time of 49.48! The 200 Free and 400 Free relay teams of Caden Kerns, Evan Lapp, Ethan Heck, and Grant Kerns both finished 7th! Congratulations, Comets!!

*Alaina Schemehorn also received a GOLD with her vocal solo this past Saturday at the ISSMA State Vocal Contest….Congrats!

*The boys swim team had an incredible night at sectional prelims last night at Carmel! Every single swimmer dropped time in all of their individual events! Caden Kerns qualified to swim in the consolation finals in the 200 individual medley and the 500 free.  Grant Kerns qualified for consolation finals in the 50 free, and finished 8th in the 100 free to qualify for championship finals.  The 200 Free and 400 Free relay teams of Evan Lapp, Ethan Heck, Caden Kerns, and Grant Kerns also qualified for championship finals.  The boys are set to have a great day on Saturday! Congrats, boys!

*Middle School International Comets who are traveling to Rome and Greece on Spring Break, need to meet for a quick meeting on Friday, February 21, at 8AM right outside Ms. Carpenter’s room.

*There will be NO fellow of Christian students for middle school today!

*Middle school soccer call out meeting for both girls and boys has been moved to Thursday February 20. The deadline to sign up has been extended until February 28.

*Happy Thumb Appreciation Day! Yes, it’s a real thing. Celebrate this important holiday by purchasing a sucker from the Eastern Key Club.  Suckers are being sold for one dollar each and proceeds are going towards the Walk A Mile Fundraiser and other community outreach efforts.  Stop by the Key Club table in the cafeteria during lunch to get yours today! Buy thumbthing thweet for thumbody!

*Everyone participating in Walk A Mile this year:

There is a mandatory meeting on Wednesday morning in Mrs. Larson’s room at 7:50. We will share all the information you need to know about Walk A Mile and there will be a sign up for T-shirts and for riding the bus to Kokomo. You can turn in your money at this meeting. If you arrive to school after 7:50am, go to Mrs. Larson’s room as soon as you get to school for the information and she will write you a pass to class. This is a very important meeting!

*Reminder: Super Smash Brothers try-outs will be held today, after school in the high school computer lab until 4:15. The final team will include four starters and three alternates. If you can’t make it today but still wish to try out, please talk to Mr. Ritter.

Suckers are being sold for one dollar each and proceeds are going towards the Walk A Mile Fundraiser and other community outreach efforts. Stop by the Key Club table in the cafeteria during lunch to get yours today! Buy something sweet for your sweet tooth or your sweetie!

*Attention all gamers!  HEROES Club–Eastern’s eSports Club–is having a call-out meeting today, after school until 4:15 in the high school computer lab. HEROES Club is open to all high schoolers in good academic standing. We currently meet twice per week and offer an inclusive, supportive environment for students to engage in healthy gaming. We’re currently looking for gamers to join our competitive Super Smash Bros. team, but we offer lots of other games on various platforms at every meeting. Stop by and check it out!
