Eastern High School Announcements

*Announcement: November 3,4,5,6

The 2025 Variety Show is Thursday, November 6 at 7:00pm Tickets are $5 and may be purchased online at kepac.ludus.com or at the door. All seating is general admission, no reserved seats. You won’t want to miss this exciting night of entertainment with great acts and the very creative MC’s for the evening. All those attending will be voting for the Best Overall Act in the show! So come and support your favorite Eastern Stars and be a part of the judging! Hope to see you on Thursday!

*Middle school student council will meet in Ms. Warnock’s room Thursday from 3:15-4:00 to continue discussion of Veterans Day.

*The Lady Comets take on the Elwood Panthers tonight at Elwood in their season opener! 6:00 start time. Varsity only.

*If you want to ride the fan bus to the sectional football game Friday, please sign up in the high school office.

*Get your teams together for this year’s dodgeball tournament on November 7. Middle school and high school games will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the fieldhouse. For more information and to sign up your team, please see Mrs. Woodall in the athletic office by November 5.

*Middle School Science Club will be having its first meeting today after school until 4:00 in Miss Lowman’s room.  We will be discussing this year’s science fair. This is open to anyone in grades 6-8.

The Variety Show rehearsal will begin promptly at 3:40pm on Tuesday, November 4. All contestants in the show need to be in the auditorium with all props, music stands, etc. at 3:40pm.

*There will be a Sunshine Club meeting in Ms. Meador’s room tomorrow at 7:45.

*Happy Red Ribbon Week from the SADD club! Check out our new displays on the Vaping Epidemic and Prescription Drug Use, located in front of the Comet Coffee stand. Feel free to take a prize from the table and make a pledge to be drug free!

*Battle of the Books 2026 is starting up now! If you want to be on a winning team, come join the reining champs from last year at our call out meeting. The meeting will be in Mrs. York’s room on Thursday before school at 7:50 to get details and form a team! If you cannot make the morning meeting and want to join, stop in and talk to Mrs. York or email her by Thursday. Let’s take home another Eastern win this year!

*The 2025 Variety Show Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 28 in the Choir Room. All High School students are encouraged to find an interesting, creative, fun act for the show. Acts wanting to audition need to sign up for an audition time in the choir hallway.

*Tomorrow will be picture retakes. If you need an order form, they are in the main office.

*Eastern High Class of 2026 Senior Parents we have a meeting Tuesday (10/28) @ 6pm in the library for Senior Fling preparation. Please join us so we can work towards giving our Seniors lasting memories.

*The Comet Command traveled to the state competition @ Franklin Central HS.  Out of the top 16 bands in the state, the Comet Command tied for 5^th place.  This wraps up a fantastic season for the Comet Command.  Great job Comets!

*Winter will be here before you know it, and many children will find it a challenge to keep warm. Key Club is collecting new or gently used coats to help these kids in need.  Totes are located in the high school and middle school offices. All donations will go towards Coats for Kids.

*The 2025 Variety Show Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 28 in the Choir Room. All High School students are encouraged to find an interesting, creative, fun act for the show. Acts wanting to audition need to sign up for an audition time in the choir hallway.

*Attention 6th grade boys! Open gyms for the 6th grade basketball team will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7. You must have a physical on file and be in good academic standing. There will be a parent call out meeting on October 14 at 5:45PM. Tryouts will be on October 27 & 28. If you are interested in learning more, stop by the middle school office for a flyer.

*Are you interested in performing and dancing on a professional stage?  Winter Guard is the answer for you.  On Oct. 28th @ 6:00 in the band room we will be holding our call out meeting.  Here all information will be given in regards to the season.  We hope to see you there!

* 7th grade boys basketball will have Open Gym today from 3:30-4:45 in the field house.  Tryouts will be on Monday, October 27th from 3:30-4:45 in the field house.  All boys who would like to participate in open gym and  tryouts must have their physical on file with the athletic office.  Please contact Mrs. Slee with any questions.

*Please check the lost and found if you are missing anything. This area will be cleaned out over fall break.

*There will be NO late buses after school today.

*Drama Club will be hosting a fundraiser at Canes today October 14th from 4-9pm. Come and enjoy some delicious chicken for a great cause! Mention the fundraiser for proceeds to go towards it.

*The library is hosting a scary story challenge.  The trick is that you can only use two sentences to tell your story.  Turn them into the library by Oct 15.  The winner gets a prize.

*Any Junior girl interested in Hoosier Girls State please check your school email for details and sign up in the HS Guidance Office by Wednesday, October 15.

* Don’t forget to take a stand against bullying by wearing BLUE tomorrow! SADD Club will be sponsoring random giveaways for ten lucky students–students must be present and wearing blue to be eligible!

*We will have a homeroom day on Wednesday the 15^th. All students will report to their homeroom. Career center students, please plan accordingly.
