Eastern High School Announcements

Monday January 08, 2024

*Any high school girl interested in playing tennis this spring we will have a call out meeting today right after school, meet in the cafeteria.

*8th grade girls basketball practice will start Tuesday, January 9th right after school. Make sure that you have a physical on file and if you have any questions, please see Miss Nile!

*There will be a Boys Golf Parent and player meeting on January 18 in the Cafeteria to discuss the upcoming season and winter cages. Please plan to attend with your parents. If you have further questions, please see coach Lamb.

*The High School Student Council will be hosting a Winter
Homecoming/Semi-Formal Dance on Saturday, January 20, from 7-10pm in the High School Cafeteria! Tickets will be $10 and will go on sale Wednesday (January 10th) before school in the cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased throughout the day from Mrs. Nibert’s room (room 101). Ticket sales will end the following Wednesday, January 17. Anyone wanting to bring a date from another school/not a current Eastern Student will need to pick up a permission form in the high school office. This dance is for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, ONLY! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Nibert.

*Get your teams together and get ready for this year’s dodgeball tournament. The Dodgeball Duals will be held on January 15th for the middle school division & 17^th for the high school division. Submit your entry forms by no later than Friday January 12th. Forms can be picked up in the athletic office.

*There will be a high school student council meeting on Tuesday, January 9th, before school in Mrs. Nibert’s room! Come with all your Winter Homecoming ideas!

*Reminder that there is a high school softball callout meeting tomorrow, January 9th at 3:30 in the library conference room. Reach out to Coach Shively if you’re unable to attend.

*7^th and 8^th grade boys’ baseball will have an open gym on Jan. 6^th from 12-2 with a parent meeting following. We will meet in the AUX gym. Additional open gym times will be Jan 13^th from 2-4, Jan 20^th from 12-2 and Jan 27^th from 12-2.

Wednesday January 03, 2024

*Attention High School students:  If you NEED to request a schedule change you MUST fill out the form that Mrs. Slee or Mr. Johnson emailed you.  The form MUST be completed by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9th to be considered for a schedule change.  Also, please make sure you are following the schedule that is currently in skyward.

*Any high school girl interested in playing tennis this spring we will have a call out meeting, Monday Jan 8^th right after school, meet in the cafeteria.

*There will be a FINAL planning meeting on Thursday the 4th @ 8 pm in the study hall room for all of those going on the senior trip. Please plan on attending.

*Congratulations to our 3 lady wrestlers for qualifying for Semi-State. Eva Smith was regional champion. Kennedy Stone placed 3^rd and Paige Kochenderfer placed 4^th. Good Luck @ Semi-State Friday!

Auditions for the Spring Musical “Beauty and the Beast” will take place January 2, 4, and 8. January 2 beginning at 1:30 will be all readings for character roles. January 4 will be singing and dancing auditions. January 8 will be call-backs for casting. Make sure to sign up for an audition time this week in the choir room!!!! Please remember- January 2 is a non-student school day and the first day for character role readings beginning at 1:30. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Evenson this week.

*There will be a brief informational meeting for all girls interested in participating in track and field right after school today. Please come and pick up information about winter workouts that will be starting after Christmas break and get signed up on the Girls’ Track and Field GroupMe to get updated information weekly. If you have any questions, please see or email Mrs. Kantz.

*Attention all baseball players.  Tonight’s open gym has been cancelled.  We will resume workouts next Monday at 7:00 PM.

*Lost and found will be cleaned out over Christmas break. If you are missing anything, please check that area by the end of the week.

*Any 6th grade girl interested in playing basketball this year there will be a call out meeting Thursday December 14th at 6pm in the cafeteria.

*The boys and girls swim teams both picked up victories over Tipton and Delphi last night! The boys swept the relays and individual first place finishes came from Grant Kerns, Amos Greene, Obi Greene, Reagan Long, Caden Kerns, and Phillip Beedham.  First place finishers for the girls were Ava Kantz, Audrey Higgins, Makenna Brooks, and the 200 Free Relay team of Layne Shedron, Samara Sommers, Abby Vawter, and Haven Gunderson. Great job, Comets!

*Track Off-season conditioning continues today after school.  We meet in the cafeteria at 3:30.

*7th grade girls’ basketball will have a call out meeting today @ 5:30 in the cafeteria.

*Seniors going on the senior trip, we will have a mandatory planning and packing meeting tonight @ 8 PM in the study hall room. Please plan to attend. Parents are invited!

* ATTENTION SENIORS:  StarPlus Energy is looking for students interested in kick-starting their careers in the manufacturing world. We are currently staffing for Production Operators, Mechanical Techs, Engineers, and many more fields.   StarPlus Energy is interested in your success, and it is a great place to expand your knowledge and skill set! If you are interested in learning more, please find their table at lunch December 12^th.

*Spanish Club- we will be celebrating 3 Kings Day early this year! Come to the party today from 3:20-4pm in Mrs. Larson’s room.  We will have hot chocolate, a scavenger hunt and a visit from the 3 Kings! If you can, bring a snack to share with the group.

*On Tuesday, December 12, take it to Hawaii for Mele Kalikima and dress-up for a tropical holiday!

*On Wednesday, December 13, break out that Ugly Christmas sweater and join the fun!
