Monday, January 13, 2020

 

  • Attention Seniors going on the Senior trip – There will be a Mandatory planning meeting tonight Monday, January 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Mrs. Eikenberry’s room.  Please enter thru the student parking lot doors.  Bring your phone or iPad.  You will be making important ride & restaurant reservations.  This will be the only meeting to do this, so plan to attend the mandatory meeting on 1/13.

 

  • Save the date!  Bring a date! (Or a friend). The Purdue Varsity Glee Club and Chamber Choir will hold a concert here at Eastern with the Encore singers opening the event.  The concert will be Friday, January 31 at 7:30pm.  Get your tickets at booktix.comor see Mrs. Larson.

 

  • There will be a Student Council meeting on Tuesday, January, 14 at 7:40 in Mrs. Rooze’s room to discuss the winter homecoming.

 

  • Any 8th – 11th grade girl interested in playing soccer next fall should attend a quick call-out meeting in Profe Lorenz’s room  Monday, January 13th right after school.

 

  • There will be a meeting for boys grades 9-12 interested in playing golf this spring on Tuesday, January 14 after school in the café.

 

  • Interact Club is having a school supplies drive for children in Jamaica, and we would appreciate your help! We are collecting backpacks, notebooks, composition notebooks, crayons, markers, and scissors from January 13th to the 24th! Please bring your donations to the high school office and look for the box labeled “Interact Club Jamaica donations!” If you have any questions, contact Victoria Leeder. Thank you for your help!

 

  • Attention Juniors: We will have a meeting on Wednesday at 2:45 in the cafeteria to discuss your junior class fundraiser. Please plan to attend. If you are not at school in the afternoon, please see Mrs. Eikenberry or Mrs. Bickel for information.

 

  • English Bowl Members, don’t forget the weekly meeting on Tuesday morning at 7:30 in Mr. Crawford’s class. The meetings are important in order to prepare for the matches that will be here before you know it.

  • Spanish Club, Art Club and SADD members- bring in your dessert or $5 to your sponsor by today!  This is our only fundraiser for the year and we need your help!
  • Spanish Club – will have our 3 King’s Day party with scavenger hunt. Food and prizes after school today.  Sign up in Mrs. Larson’s room so we have enough food and prizes for everyone!

  • Today, Friday, January 10th is the last day to change schedules for 2nd semester.  You must turn in a yellow change form before the end of the day!

 

  • Last night, both the Boys and Girls Swim Teams took home victories over Lewis Cass in their first meet back in the pool after break.  The boys won with a score of 112 to 54 and the girls defeated Cass with a score of 91-89.

First place finishers included: Andrew Hartman, Matt Laubenstein, Jacob Tucker, Porter Brovont, Ella Kantz, Lauryn Shane, McKenLee Morgan, Cora Kendall, and Lola Williams.  The boys team also took first place in all three relays while the girls won the 200 Freestyle relay.  Great job Comets!  The Comets swim at home against Carroll and Elwood this Saturday at 10am.  Come out and support your Comet swimmers and divers!

  • Auditions for “Mary Poppins” are this week! If you have any questions concerning auditions, see Mrs. Evenson.  We need a lot of students for the show. So come out and audition!!

A special shout out of support goes to our school resource officers: Josh Myers, Alan Weimer, and Cody Detamore.  Thank you for all you do to help keep us safe.  We appreciate you so much!

  • Girls interested in participating in Track & Field this spring:   Optional workouts will begin tonight, Tuesday, January 7th.  Girls NOT participating in a winter sport can come Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:30 – 4:30.  Optional practices start tonight, Tuesday, January 7th.

  • The high school boys Track and field is continuing offseason conditioning for non winter sport athletes starting today Jan. 6th at 3:30pm. Conditioning will be Monday-Thursday @ 3:30-5pm. We will meet in the cafeteria.

  • The Eastern Bowling Teams competed in Sectionals this past Saturday, and for the first time in school history, the boys varsity team captured the Kokomo Sectional Championship!  The squad of Brayden Utterback, Austin Capps, Austin Lamberson, Ethan Preston, Alex Coleman, Ricky Sample-Ward and Josh Fike defeated arch-rival Western by 30 pins in a two game roll-off to claim the title.  The team now advances to the Crawfordsville Regional on January 18.  Also, all 12 Eastern bowlers will also compete for individual Kokomo Sectional honors on January 11.

 

  • Members of the English Bowl team: Don’t forget that our weekly practices begin tomorrow morning, Tuesday, at 7:30 in Mr. Crawford’s room. This week, Mr. Crawford will also bring Dan’s Donuts for you to enjoy during practice!

  • Lost and found is over flowing! Please be sure to check for anything you may have lost.  Any items left after Christmas Break will be donated.
