Eastern High School Announcements

Monday September 26, 2022

The boys cross country team placed 25th in the closed division at the Culver Academies Invitational on Saturday.  Obi Greene led the team with his 27th-place finish, setting a 31-second personal record of 17:58.  Amos Greene, Reagan Long, and Gavin Sonafrank also set new personal records, while Sam Duke put in a season best performance.  Great job, Comets!

The girls cross country team placed 16th in the closed division of the Culver Academies Invitational on Saturday.  Ava Kantz led the team with her 24th-place finish in 22:04.  Hailey Rose raced to a nearly 4-minute personal record, and Maddie Wyrick also set a new personal record.  Addie Conner also raced a season-best time.  Congratulations, Comets!

Any Club or Sport interested in having a float/vehicle in the parade needs to sign up on the sheet in the office by Wednesday, September 28th.  All floats/vehicles must have an adult driver.  Please see Mrs. Nibert if you have any questions!

Picture retakes will be on Friday September 30^th. Students who would like a retake must bring their original portrait packet and return it to the photographer.

 The Lady Comets beat Blackford on their senior night 6-0. Lydia Hertzog had a hat trick and an assist, Claire Hapner scored 2 goals, Brooklyn Brooks had a goal and an assist, and Makenna Brooks had 4 assists. In goal, Ruby Sheets had 3 saves. They play tomorrow, Saturday morning vs. Wabash next. Keep it up ladies!

The library is having a call out meeting today at 3:10 for anyone interested in being on the library advisory board to help plan activities for the library.  The meeting will end by 4:00.  Please see Mrs. K if you have questions.

“A call out meeting for the Eastern High School boys and girls bowling teams will be held today at 3:15 in the cafeteria.  Team members are needed for boys varsity and JV and girls varsity and JV teams.  No previous bowling experience is necessary.”

Attention Juniors and Seniors Guys  – Wabash College will be at Eastern on Tuesday, September 27  at 10:30.  If you would like to learn more about Wabash College, please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Friday, September 23.

“Girls Track:   returning athletes, and those who are planning on being on the team this spring– We are planning on organizing a group to volunteer at the Cupcake 5K.  Please try to attend the meeting either before or after school this Thursday, Sept. 22.  Contact Mrs. Kantz for additional information.”

The Lady Comets beat Rossville last night 4-1 with Grace VanBibber leading the team with 2 goals and an assist, Lydia Hertzog scoring a goal, Makenna Brooks scoring a goal, and Alia Dutton with an assist! CRUSHED IT. On Monday they take on Sheridan for the conference championship. LETS GO LADY LADIES.

The Lady Comets battled Oak Hill last night. The Eagles scored after a quick goal on a free kick which resulted in a 1-0 loss. The defense held strong with Ruby Sheets in goal with 12 saves and Jessie Shannon shutting down their offensive attacks. Tomorrow the Lady Comets will play at Rossville in an important conference game. Go Lady Comets!
