Eastern High School Announcements

Thursday, February 20, 2020 

 

• Attention Juniors & Seniors: Please return consent forms for the immunization clinic to Mrs. Salkie by this Thursday if you plan to get your shots at the school March 5^th.

 

• Seniors – the deadline has been extended to turn in senior photos, baby pictures, and senior quotes. Please submit all items to Ms. Meador via email or bring hard copies to room 103 by Monday February 24.

 

• Attention all students on all academic teams please check your email regarding shirt orders. For questions and sizes email Victoria Enstrom.

 

• Softball practice this evening will be 5-7 instead of 6-8.

• The meeting for seniors who are going on the Disney will be tonight, February 19th, in Mrs. Eikenberry’s room at 7 p.m. Please make sure you bring a parent or guardian.

• Detention today, Tuesday, will be in Ms. Warnock’s room.

 

• Eastern science research students had an outstanding day at the East Central Indiana Regional Science Fair on Saturday.  All 4 competing student qualified for the state science fair next month!  Evan Spell won the Microbiology category, Gwyn Zirkle won Behavioral and Social Sciences, and Victoria Leeder won in Biochemistry.  Megan Johnson placed 2nd in Biochemistry and won the Ricoh Sustainable Development Award.  Congratulations!

• The meeting for seniors who are going on the Disney will be tomorrow night, February 19th, in Mrs. Eikenberry’s room at 7 p.m. Please make sure you bring a parent or guardian.

 

• There will be a quick SADD meeting today after school in the cafeteria. It will last about 15 minutes.

• All senior boys’ basketball players and cheerleaders, please turn in your senior night bio paper to Mrs. Woodall by tomorrow, Thursday, February 13.

 

• Announcement 2/10-2/14: Students wishing to purchase shirts for the musical “Mary Poppins” need to have money turned in to Mrs. Evenson by this Friday.  T-shirts $10, Sweatshirts $16.  Also, costume rental money is due Friday, February 21.
• A reminder to seniors that are going on the Disney trip; there is an important meeting this Thursday, February 13th, in Mrs. Eikenberry’s room starting at 7 pm. Please make sure you bring your parents. Please remember if school is cancelled, so is this meeting.

 

• FCA is tomorrow, Wednesday at 7:30 in the Library Community Room! Join us for Food, Friends, and Fellowship!

 

• Band fundraiser items are here and ready to be picked up in the band room.

 

• Today, Wednesday, detention will be held in Mr. Allison’s room.

• There will be a callout meeting for the high school girls track team today, Tuesday, February 11th at 3:30 in the cafeteria.

• ALL FACS CLUB MEMBERS: Please check your email for our next scheduled activity, which is today,  TUESDAY, February 11.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Bishir.  Hopefully, you are able to participate.

 

• A message from the nurse – Remember if you use ibuprofen or Tylenol, you must bring in a bottle to keep in the nurse’s office. Thank you!

• On Saturday, Victoria Leeder won $500 as the Champion of the Howard County Science Fair for her research, called “Vitamin Enhanced Agglutination.”  Megan Johnson won $200 and 4th place for her work on “Bionic Electricity.”  Dylan Maynard won $100 and 5th place for his research, “Decomposition of LDPE,” and Evan Spell won $60 and 9th for work on the “Survival of Lactobacillus Acidophilus in Acidic Conditions.”  Great job, Comets!

• Several band students performed at Solo & Ensemble contest this past weekend. Congratulations to Alyssa Lett, Allie Adams, Daniel Martin, Emily Adams, Noah Kraus-Stacy, Nathan Rush, Obi Greene, Porter Stone, and Dessa Bowley for earning Gold ratings on your solos. Earning silver ratings were Cheyenne Rutherford, Alli DeYoung, and Nate King. The following students advanced to State contest: Nathan Rush, Kat Cauthern, Alyssa Lett, and Alli DeYoung. Congratulations to our band students!

 

• There will be no softball workouts this evening. We will have workouts on Thursday 6-8.

 

• The English Bowl team will meet tomorrow morning (2/11/20) in Mr. Crawford’s room.

• There will be an official callout for the High School boys Track & Field team on Thursday Feb. 6th at 3:30pm. We will meet in the high school cafeteria. Official practice will start Monday Feb. 17th at 3:30pm.

 

• There will be a callout meeting for the high school girls track team on Tuesday, February 11th at 3:30 in the cafeteria.

 

• If you’re interested in joining the stage crew for this year’s musical, ‘Mary Poppins,’ please attend a brief call out meeting Friday, February 7 right after school in Mrs. Evenson’s room. If you are unable to attend, please contact Evan Spell to express your interest.

• Do you like playing games with your friends and eating free food? Join Key Club this Saturday, February 8th, in the cafeteria for Comet Con! Come anytime between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. for a lot of fun and good food. We hope to see you there!

 

• SADD and Spanish Club:  This Saturday is Walk a Mile in My Shoes.  We will meet at the school at 8:30 am, head to Kokomo for the walk and breakfast and return to the school approximately 11am.  Sign up with Mrs. Larson or Mrs. Salkie to attend.

• Save the date!  Bring a date! (Or a friend). The Purdue Varsity Glee Club and Chamber Choir will hold a concert here at Eastern with the Encore singers opening the event.  The concert will be tomorrow night, Friday, January 31 at 7:30pm.  Get your tickets at booktix.comor see Mrs. Larson.

• Key Club is asking you to drop off any and all plastic bottles and caps that you have to the HS office by tomorrow, Friday, January 31^st in the box marked Key Club.  All plastic bottles and caps collected will go towards creating parking benches! Thank you!

• Any girls grade 9-12 playing tennis this spring need to  please meet in the cafeteria today(Friday) right after school for uniform information.
