  Eastern High School Announcements

   Wednesday August 30, 2023.

There will be a high school boys and girls wrestling call out, Friday, Sept. 1^st right after school in the cafeteria.

 

The First boys’ Volleyball game will be Monday @ 6. Freshman will play the juniors. 7 o’clock will be sophomores vs. seniors. Admission is $5 to get in. Come cheer on your class!

 

“Last evening, the girls’ golf team scored a 1st places finish defeating Western, Southwood, and Peru. Cora Bertram lead the way with a 43, Teagan Bedwell fired a 49, Alaina Schemehorn carded a 51 and Sophie Kretz added a 52 with Jenna Hendricks scoring a 57 . Great job to these girls on a solid team win”.

 

The Lady Comets played hard last night at Mississinewa but fell short by one goal off a corner kick. The team continues to improve – dominating on defense by only giving up one goal in 3 games and persisting in the offensive attack by securing more shots on goal. They play again next Tuesday September 5th at Western. Go Comets!

 

Any club or team interested in participating in the parade needs to sign-up on the sheet in the high school office by Wednesday, September 6^th.  No participants will be allowed after September 6.

The student council is having a canned food drive during the week of homecoming. This will be a competition between 9-12 grade. The winners will be announced Monday September 11th. All of the cans donated will go toward the Buddy Bag program throughout the school year. Please check your email for information sent out by Mrs. Nibert.

“There will be a high school softball callout meeting today at 3:30 in the library conference room.”

 

All juniors are welcome to help decorate your class float for the parade. Decorating will take place on Wednesday, August 30 at Marly Coan’s house from 6-8 pm. If you help decorate the float, you are welcome to ride during the parade.

The Lady Comets defeated conference rival Tri Central last night 7-0. Grace VanBibber had a hat trick and two assists. Lily Green scored two goals. Brooklyn Brooks had two assists. Jade Secrease and Makenna Brooks each scored a goal. Julia Salkie had one assist. And goalie Ruby Sheets had 4 saves. Shoutout to the defensive end who haven’t given up a goal in two straight games! They play again tonight at Mississinewa. Great job Lady Comets keep up the great work!!

Middle school student council will have their next meeting on Wednesday, August 30th.

    Eastern High School Announcements

     Monday August 28, 2023.

On Saturday, the boys cross country team placed 9th in the Maverick Stampede, hosted by McCutcheon High School in Lafayette.  Eastern won the tiebreaker with Benton Central by virtue of our #6 runner, Reagan Long, who placed 109th, ahead of Benton Central’s #6 runner in 118th.  Obi Greene led the team with his 2nd place finish in 18:00.  Gavin Sonafrank put in a season best performance.  Great job, Comets!

On Saturday, the girls cross country team placed 6th in the Maverick Stampede, at McCutcheon High School.  Ava Kantz led the Comets with her 6th place finish in 22:24, while Malia Shellnut set a new personal record of 29:24.  Congratulations, Comets!

The Lady Comets shutout Delphi this past Saturday with a score of 11-0. Brooklyn Brooks and Alia Dutton both had hat tricks and each had an assist. Jade Seacrease and Grace VanBibber scored two goals each and Julia Salkie scored a goal. Ruby Sheets had 3 saves in goal. Come out to support them in their next contest is at home Tuesday August 29th vs Tri Central! Great job ladies!

    Eastern High School Announcements

     Friday August 25, 2023.

 

The Howard County Youth Council for Substance Abuse Prevention is seeking up to five Eastern High School students to represent our school during this year.  This is an excellent volunteer service project which can boost college applications and extend your network.  The time commitment is minimal with just a few meetings per semester.  If interested, please contact Mr. Kantz who will give you the information.

 

“Attention all prospective baseball players not involved in a fall sport.  We will have a short call out meeting today at 3:15 in the aux gym to discuss fall open fields.  If you have any questions, please see Coach Hisner.”

 

Middle School volleyball practice will be in the Aux gym after school today.

Eastern High School Announcements

 Monday August 21, 2023.

SADD Club will have a short meeting after school Tuesday August 22 in the nurse’s office. Please come if you are interested in joining. It is open to Middle and High School Students. Hope to see you there!!

The Boys volleyball teams will have practice today from 6:30-7:30 in the Aux gym.

On Saturday, the girls cross country team placed 14th in the Logansport Invitational.  Ava Kantz led the Comets with her 15th-place finish in 21:58, her personal course record.  The whole team did a great job in the first 5k race of the season.  Good job, Comets!

On Saturday, the boys cross country team placed 19th in the Logansport Invitational.  Obi Greene led the Comets with a 4th place finish in 17:04, a 47-second PR.  Amos Greene also set a new PR, posting a time of 21:28.  The whole team ran well and in their first 5k of the season.  Well done, Comets!

This year’s play is Alice in Wonderland. Auditions are this week. Sign up for a slot by room 119’s door and collect the needed paperwork. If you have any questions, email Ms. Maxwell.

Senior Trip parent meeting will be tonight @ 8:00 PM in the cafeteria. Important info on payments, fundraisers, and many other details for the trip. Please plan to attend and make sure to bring a parent.

Picture day will be Friday August 18^th. Everyone WILL be required to get their picture taken. However, you do not have to order a picture package. If you didn’t receive an order form please stop by the high school office.

The Volleyball team will be hosting a Homecoming week volleyball tournament for boys in grades 9-12. Tryouts are today from 6:30-7:30 in the Main gym with a $5.00 admission fee.

 

The boys’ cross-country team placed 7th last night in the Northwestern Combination, the only 3k race of the season.  Obi Greene led the Comets with his 2nd-place finish in the 1-2 race in a time of 9:49, his best 3k time ever.  Jakob Bertoline, Reagan Long, and Amos Greene also put it personal bests for the 3k.  Great job, Comets!
