Eastern High School Announcements

 Thursday January 25, 2024

 *Middle School and High School students and staff- everyone is invited to participate in Walk A Mile for the Rescue Mission on Saturday, Feb. 24.  Details coming soon! Mark your calendars so we can be the school to bring home the big pink shoe!

*Did you know that we have an esports/gaming club here at Eastern? HEROES Club meets Thursdays after school in the computer lab. We offer competitive and casual gaming in a supportive, collaborative environment. We are currently gearing up for our Super Smash Bros season. Join us after school today for our spring call out meeting–bring a friend, check out the new computers, and see what HEROES Club is all about!

You should have gotten a J. Edwards fundraiser form in your English class on Tuesday. Your prom ticket price is determined by how many products you sell. If you did not get an order form, please stop by Mrs. Bickel’s room to get one. All orders and money are due by Tuesday, January 30th.

*Middle School Baseball for 7th and 8th grade students will be hosting open gyms on Saturday January 27th from 12-2, Tuesday February 6th from 6-8 and Tuesday February 13th from 6-8. Please come in through the Auxiliary entrance to the school.

*There will be a Sunshine Club meeting in Ms. Meador’s room on Thursday February 1st at 7:50.

*If you are interested in MS Track and didn’t sign up, please see Mrs. Thomas in room 303. MS Track conditioning will start after school on Thursday, February 1.

*Attention Juniors and Seniors  –  A representative from Purdue Kokomo Poly Tech  will be at Eastern on Tuesday, February 6 at 10:30.  If you would like to learn more about Purdue Kokomo Poly Tech, please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Friday, February 2.

*The dodgeball tournament has been postponed to a later date and more information will be available soon.

Tomorrow will be green and gold day!

*Tuesday January 16th, there will be a call out meeting for boy’s track and field in the cafeteria at 3:30. If you are in a winter sport, are interested in track, but cannot attend the meeting, please stop by the athletic office to grab a handout.

*Anyone interested in participating in MS track should sign up in the MS office starting today. Those not participating in a winter sport will start conditioning on Thursday, February 1^st after school from 3:25-4:30. We will have conditioning on Mondays and Thursdays. Official practice will start on Monday, March 4^th.

* Reminder we will NOT be in school on Monday.

*The High School Student Council will be hosting a Winter
Homecoming/Semi-Formal Dance on Saturday, January 20, from 7-10pm in the High School Cafeteria! Tickets will be $10 and will go on sale before school in the cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased throughout the day from Mrs. Nibert’s room (room 101). Ticket sales will end the following Wednesday, January 17. Anyone wanting to bring a date from another school/not a current Eastern Student will need to pick up a permission form in the high school office. This dance is for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, ONLY! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Nibert.

*Winter Homecoming is next week!! The dress-up days are as follows:

Wednesday: Farmers vs Charmers – break out your flannel or dress to impress!

Again, Monday January 16th at 3:30 in the cafeteria there will be a high school boys track and field call out meeting.

*There will be no girls track workouts after school today.

* Reminder we will NOT be in school on Monday.

*There will be a Boys Golf Parent and player meeting on January 18 in the Cafeteria to discuss the upcoming season and winter cages. Please plan to attend with your parents. If you have further questions, please see coach Lamb.

*Did you know that teachers and coaches can sign up to play dodgeball, too? Ask your favorite teacher to join your team and win it all. Studies show that the chances of having a movie day in class are significantly higher if a teacher is on the winning dodgeball team. Remember, there are two ways to win in this year’s dodgeball tournament: Make it to the end and win it all… or be voted as “best team name.” Submit your entry forms to the athletic office by this Friday. Reach out to Coach Shively with any questions.

*The girls swim team picked up a well-fought victory over Northwestern last night! The final score was 98-80! Individual first place finishes came from Ava Kantz, Grace VanBibber, and Johanna Hanneken.  The 200 and 400 Free Relay teams also snagged the gold! Way to go, ladies!! The Comets swim Rochester at home tomorrow!!

*Get your teams together and get ready for this year’s dodgeball tournament. The Dodgeball Duals will be held on January 15th for the middle school division & 17^th for the high school division.
