Eastern High School Announcements

*Spanish Club Members-There will be a meeting for all members on Wednesday, Aug. 28 after school until 4pm in Mrs. Larson’s room.  We will paint tiles and set up committees. High school Spanish Club members, check your email for information about the field trip.

*The boys cross country team placed 16th in the 22-team Jacob Graf Invitational at Logansport.  Obi Greene led the Comets with a 31st-place finish in 18:22, followed by Jakob Bertoline in 56th with a time of 19:29.  Great job, Comets!

The girls cross country team placed 13th in the 22-team Jacob Graf Invitational at Logansport.  Marly Coan led the Comets with her 80th-place finish in 27:57, while Rhayelin Scott finished 89th in a time of 28:47.  Great job, Comets!

*There will be a brief Girl’s Varsity Basketball (player only) Call Out Meeting at 3:15 in the cafeteria, THIS Thursday, August 29.

*The SADD call out meeting will be on Thursday, September 5th in the cafeteria right after school.  Mrs. Johnson, the Elementary Nurse, is the new club advisor and Gaby Roach will be helping again this year. Please plan to attend the call out meeting if you would like to be a part of SADD club this year.

*Attention all prospective baseball players who are not currently participating in a fall sport.  There will be a short meeting about fall open fields on Thursday in the cafeteria at 3:15 PM.

*There will be a Sunshine Club meeting on Tuesday the 27th at 7:45 in Ms. Meador’s room.

*Drama Club’s play is Oscar Winning “12 Angry Jurors.” If you’d like to audition, sign up outside room 119 or contact Ms. Maxwell. Auditions are this week!

*The Eastern Comets Men’s Soccer team opened their home season in commanding fashion, shutting out Daleville High School 5-0. The Comets’ defense, anchored by the stellar play of Patrick Williams, Kaiden Petty, Zach Kimbrough, and Khysen Pundt, held Daleville scoreless throughout the match. Goalkeeper Lincoln Mentis was a standout with an impressive 13 saves, securing the clean sheet for the team.

In the midfield, Eastern maintained strong control and patience, with Evan Kaiser, James Recinos, and Evan Williams directing play. Evan Williams contributed to the offensive effort with a key assist.

On the attack, the Comets were relentless. Austin Shafer’s presence up front, combined with the dynamic play of Adam Webster, who recorded 2 goals and 1 assist, and Kyan Hannah, who netted 2 goals, proved to be too much for Daleville to handle. Evan Kaiser added to the scoreboard with a goal of his own, capping off an impressive performance by Eastern’s offense.

The Comets also benefited from outstanding bench play, with key contributions from substitutes who maintained the team’s high intensity and helped preserve the shutout while providing fresh energy to both ends of the field.

*Seniors, your deposit for the senior trip is due today. Don’t forget to get your deposit to Mr. Heck or Mrs. Eikenberry if you’re wanting to go.

*There will be a Science Club callout meeting on Friday August 16th at 7:45 in Ms. Meador’s room.

*Any students interested in participating in Key Club this year, our first meeting will be held this Friday morning at 7:30AM in Mr. Mink’s room. Please contact Mr. Mink if unable to come.

*  Are you a student who loves technology? Do you love to tinker? Do you like to make stuff? If this is you, please come to the Middle School Tech Club Fridays after school from 3:15 to 4:15PM. We will meet this Friday right after school downstairs in Mr. Mink’s room 317. See Mr. Mink if you are not able to attend the meeting.

*Wrestling open mats for this evening are cancelled. We will resume on Monday.

No Spanish experience is needed.  We are meeting today at 3:15 in Mrs. Larson’s room to discuss a fun year full of celebrations, field trips and of course FOOD.  See you after school.

*Ever see yourself on stage? Want to be in the spotlight? Drama Club is having a call out meeting today @ 5:30 in the PAC. We will be announcing the school play this year. Anyone from 7th-12th grade can participate. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Maxwell. Parents and guardians are invited.

We will announce the dates, the costs, and some really great things we’re doing for the first time this year. Please plan to attend and parents are encouraged to come. 8 pm in the cafeteria tonight.
