*Get your Senior Fling money turned in ASAP!

$30 includes food, games, inflatables, door prizes,  dodgeball tournament, and more! Cash payments can be given to Mrs. Eikenberry, or you can use the Venmo/Cash App options posted on the class Instagram account. All tickets MUST be purchased by May 8^th to attend.

*There is a high school girls’ golf callout meeting in Mr. Lambs class on Friday May 8th right after school. If you are in grades 8-11, and want to play golf next school year, please plan to attend.

*The Key Club will be sponsoring a pet supply and food drive for the Kokomo Humane society over the next week. Please drop off dog or cat food and supplies outside of the main or middle school  office. Snoopy and Garfield will really appreciate it!

*Reminder: Middle School Student Council’s Party in the U.S.A. Activity Night takes place this Friday. Doors open at 5:30, and students can enjoy dancing, swimming, basketball, volleyball, games and food until 9:00. Join us for a fun and entertaining evening.

*Summer Reading program starts this Friday, May 1st.  Visit the library during lunch or after school to sign up, check out a book and enjoy some cotton candy and games. We will be celebrating all month long.

*The free sports physical night will be May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Eastern (Enter at Door 8). This year the physical forms will be completed online, but instructions on how to set up an account and complete the forms are available at the middle school, high school, or athletic office. Copies of the instructions are also available at ehsathletics.net.

If you are eligible and interested in donating, please sign up on the bulletin board outside of Mrs.Foland’s room. Spots are limited, so don’t wait!

*On Saturday, April 25, the Eastern High School band earned a GOLD performance rating and a GOLD in sight-reading at the ISSMA organizational contest.  We thank Mrs. Williams and Caleb Scott for helping to make this possible.  Congratulations, and Go Comets!

*The Girls Track and field team placed 4th at the Eastern Relays on Saturday.  Lainey Newlin tied her personal best to get 3rd place in Long Jump; Maya Monize made finals and placed 7th in the 100m dash; the 4×100 relay team of Cora Gunderson, Maya Monize, Emme Alexander, and Lainey Newlin placed 3rd. Other highlights: Liz Cavazos threw personal bests in shot put and discus; the 4×800 team of Jenna Shidler, Zoey Sexton, Kaia Roemer, and Raygan McClain had personal bests.  The Comets compete tomorrow at the Northwestern Relays.

*All sports and extracurricular activities are cancelled after school. This includes starlets and encore practice!

Prom tickets are on sale today. Ticket sales end on Friday, April 24. No tickets will be sold after Friday. If you are taking a non-Eastern guest, you must have the permission slip signed before you can purchase tickets. Permission slips are located in the main office on bright pink paper. Senior ticket prices are $25 and junior prices are based on the fundraiser.

*The Eastern Girls track team defeated Delphi and Tri-Central last night.
The Comets swept all the relay events:
4×100 team of Cora Gunderson, Maya Monize, Lainey Newlin, and Skyler Brooks;  the 4×800 team of Malia Shellnut, Maggie Rife, Kaia Roemer, and Raygan McClain;
and the 4×400 team of Gracie Petty, Ava Vanover, Cora Gunderson, and Zoey Sexton.
Other scoring for the Comets:
Skyler Brooks won the 100 m dash
Jenna Shidler won the 1600 and 800m runs
Lainey Newlin won Long Jump
Cora Gunderson won high jump
Zoey Sexton —second in the 400 m dash
Liz Cavazos—second in both shot put and discus
Ava Vanover—second in both 100 and 300 m hurdles
The Comets compete this Saturday at home in the Eastern Relays.

*A big congratulations for a first-place win for the second year for the Battle of the Books team, defeating teams from Howard County. The team of Darya Sedeghat, Jack Van Horn, James Sommers, Reana Mastin, and Heather McDowell defended our title.  Our other team, Pipe Denisten, Aspen Anders, and Marie Titus also had a great showing. Great job readers!

*Students who signed up for Eastern’s Driver Ed program this summer will meet for a brief informational meeting Friday, April 17 at 7:50 in the cafeteria with Ms. Carpenter and Mr. Bedwell. If your bus arrives later, please join us in the cafeteria as soon as you get to school. If you miss the meeting, email Ms. Carpenter to receive the information you missed.

*Attention all current 7th through 11th grade students! If you’re interested in joining Color Guard, we will be having a call-out meeting this Friday, the 17th, at 3:30 PM in the band room.
