Eastern High School Announcements

*Any boy interested in powderpuff volleyball, we will have our practices Monday the 16^th and Wednesday the 18^th. 9^th and 11^th grade will be from 6-7 and 10^th and 12^th grade from 7-8. The cost is $5 per player. The games will be held on Saturday the 28^th from 6-9.

*Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! Join the library after school on Wednesday the 25^th for the Beetlejuice party.  Enjoy snacks, the movie and fun.  It’s Showtime!!!  Sign up today!

*Attention Juniors and Seniors – A representative from Butler University will be at Eastern on Tuesday, September 17th, at 9:30.  If you would like to learn more about Butler University, please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Monday, September 16th.

*Art club callouts will be next Wednesday, right after school for about 15 mins in Miss Nile’s room. All high school and middle school students are welcome!!

*Attention Juniors and Seniors – A representative from Purdue University will be at Eastern on Thursday, September 19th, at 10:30.  If you would like to learn more about Purdue University, please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Tuesday, September 17th.

*Sunshine Club will have a meeting on Friday September 13, 2024, at 7:45 a.m. in Ms. Meador’s room

* Any middle school or high school girls interested in wrestling, there will be a call-out meeting today right after school in the cafeteria.

*Over the weekend the Comet Command traveled to Brownsburg HS.  They placed 1st overall taking captions in Music, Visual and General Effect performance.  They travel to Northwestern HS this weekend with a performance time of 4:01.

*The boys cross country team placed 7th in the 1A-3A race in the State Preview meet at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute.  Obi Greene led the Comets with a 4th-place finish in a season-best time of 16:59. William Kuntz followed in 30th with a time of 19:13, a 59-second PR.  Gavin Sonafrank, Samuel Thomas, Chase Roseberry, Alex Leopard, and Tim Leopard also set new PRs, while four more boys recorded season bests.  Great job, Comets!

*The girls cross country team was short-handed in the 1A-3A race in the State Preview meet at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.  Alivia Kinney led the team with a 79th-place finish in a season-best time of 28:52. Zoey Sexton and Anna Groves set new PRs, and Malia Shellnut recorded a season-best.  Way to go, Comets!

*The Boy’s Tennis Team pulled out another gritty 3-2 win over Wabash on Wednesday night.  This reversed another loss from last year.  The team moved to 6-2 on the season.  We have a huge conference match tonight against Rossville and could use a strong fan base.  Come out and support the boys!  Match should start a little after 5.  Go Comets!!!

*The SADD call out meeting will be on Thursday, September 5th in the cafeteria right after school.  Mrs. Johnson, the Elementary Nurse, is the new club advisor and Gaby Roach will be helping again this year. Please plan to attend the call out meeting if you would like to be a part of SADD club this year.

 

*Middle School Student Council call-out meeting will take place in Miss Lowman’s room from 3:15-4:00 on Wednesday, September 4th. If you are interested in helping plan dances, middle school activities and dress up days come to the meeting to find out more.

 

*“FCA will be Starting this Thursday at 7:30 in Mr.Heck’s room. Student athletes are welcome to come for breakfast and fellowship!”

 

*Middle School Student Council call-out meeting will take place tomorrow, Wednesday September 4th from 3:15-4:00 in Miss Lowman’s room. Come check out what we have planned for the year to see if the Student Council is a club for you.

 

 

*The girls cross country team placed 5th in the 9-team Maverick Stampede at McCutcheon High School.  Marly Coan led the team with a 53rd place finish in 28:26, and Jillian Johnson broke her PR by 3 minutes.  Congratulations, Comets!

 

 

*The boys cross country team placed 6th in the 9-team Maverick Stampede at McCutcheon High School. Obi Greene led the team, finishing 2nd in 17:17.  Trenton Smith and William Kuntz both set new PRs of 20:09 and 20:12, respectively, while Reagan Long recorded a season best time.  Congratulations!

*There will be a brief Girl’s Varsity Basketball Call Out Meeting at 3:15 in the cafeteria, today.

*The SADD call out meeting will be on Thursday, September 5th in the cafeteria right after school.  Mrs. Johnson, the Elementary Nurse, is the new club advisor and Gaby Roach will be helping again this year. Please plan to attend the call out meeting if you would like to be a part of SADD club this year.

*Attention all prospective baseball players who are not currently participating in a fall sport.  There will be a short meeting about fall open fields today in the cafeteria at 3:15 PM.

*Middle School Student Council call-out meeting will take place in Miss Lowman’s room from 3:15-4:00 next Wednesday, September 4th. If you are interested in helping plan dances, middle school activities and dress up days come to the meeting to find out more.

*Seniors – Please turn in your Senior Brag sheet to Mrs. Koziel by Friday, August 30th.

*HEROES Club, your preeminent esports club here at Eastern High School, will hold its first call-out meeting this Friday–after school–in Mr. Ritter’s room. Please be sure to come by and get more information about how you can be involved in esports at Eastern!

*The boys’ tennis team swept Hamilton Heights by the score of 5-0 last night.  Varsity winners included Silas Flanary, Tristan Armogum and Max Atherton at 1,2 and 3 singles.  Doubles victors included Blake Farkas and JT Atherton at #1 and Ethan Budde and Jansen Richmond at #2.

The JV also won by a score of 5-0.  Singles winners were Ethen Heck and Grant Farkas.   Doubles winners were the teams of Blake Day and Evan Lapp, Camden and Carson Ward, Clayton Stanley and Brody Roller.

The varsity moved to 3-2 on the season and the JV remains undefeated at 5-0.  Keep up the great work guys!!

*The boy’s tennis team had a thrilling 3-2 come from behind win last night at Madison Grant.  Max Atherton at #3 singles and the #1 doubles team of JT Atherton and Blake Farkas came back from losing their first sets to win their matches in 3 sets.   The #2 doubles team of Grant Farkas and Blake Day secured the 3rd point in straight sets.  This was a huge win as Madison Grant has been sectional, conference and county champs in recent years.  The JV was also victorious by the score of 5-0 to remain undefeated on the season.  Way to go boys!

*Drama Club’s play is Oscar Winning “12 Angry Jurors.” If you’d like to audition, sign up outside room 119 or contact Ms. Maxwell. Auditions are this week!
