Eastern High School Announcements

Friday October 7, 2022

 The Lady Comets beat Rossville last night 3 – 0 and now advances to the sectional championship versus Tipton. Brooklyn Brooks led the Comets with two goals – both scored off penalty kicks taken from outside the box. Jadelyn Secrease added an impressive goal by scoring off a quick break away. Keeper Ruby Sheets played an outstanding game in goal with 11 saves to keep the Comets with a clean sheet. Come out tomorrow, Saturday at 2pm at Tipton High School to support them as they play for the Sectional title! We are so proud of you ladies! Go get the W.

“If you are earning a letter jacket this fall, please stop by the Athletic Office on Monday, October 10, between 8:45 and 3:00 to be sized for your jacket. The payment for your jacket will also be due at the time of sizing.

If you THINK you should be earning a jacket but didn’t receive a letter about it, please see Mrs. Woodall in the Athletic Department.”

For all boys interested in playing 7^th grade basketball this year, there will be open gym next Wednesday, October 12^th and next Thursday, October 13^th from 6:00-7:30 in the auxiliary gym.  In order to participate at open gym, each student-athlete must have the required physical and athletic paperwork on file in the athletic office.

There will be a call-out meeting for any high school girl interested in swimming and/or diving after school on Tuesday, October 11, in Coach Sarah’s classroom (Room 101). If you cannot make the meeting, please stop by Coach Sarah’s room any time to pick up the information packet and calendar.

Monday October 3, 2022

 The boys cross country team placed 6th in the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet on Saturday.  Obi Greene earned All-Conference honors for his 5th-place, personal record performance of 17:51.  Kamp Miller earned Honorable Mention for his 16th-place, personal record time of 19:09.  Jakob Bertoline, Amos Greene, Gavin Sonafrank, and Nate King also set new personal records.  Outstanding job, Comets!

The girls cross country team placed 4th in the Hoosier Heartland Conference meet on Saturday.  Ava Kantz and Lily Greene earned All-Conference recognition for the 5th- and 10th-place finishes, respectively.  Both girls also set new personal records.  Alesia Rummel earned Honorable Mention for her 15th-place finish.  Addie Conner put in a season-best performance.  Outstanding performance, Comets!

Congratulations to the 8^th grade volleyball team on winning the Howard County Tournament 2 years in a row.

Picture retakes will be on Friday September 30^th. Students who would like a retake must bring their original portrait packet and return it to the photographer.  Order forms are in the office if you need one.

TURN IN YOUR CAP/GOWN AND GRADUATION PRODUCTS ORDER FORMS AND DEPOSITS TO HERFF JONES ON FRIDAY, SEPT.30 DURING THE LUNCH PERIODS IN THE CAFETERIA LOBBY.  EXTRA CAP AND GOWN INFORMATION PACKETS ARE IN THE MAIN OFFICE.

Key club will be hosting a donation drive for the CAM House in Kokomo! The CAM house needs toiletry items, especially 3-in-1 wash and deodorant. This competition will be run by your homeroom class. The homeroom class that has collected the most items by the end of the week will get donuts!!! So, bring your toiletry items to your homeroom and may the best room win!!!!

Any Club or Sport interested in having a float/vehicle in the parade needs to sign up on the sheet in the office by Wednesday, September 28th.  All floats/vehicles must have an adult driver.  Please see Mrs. Nibert if you have any questions!

The Lady Comets beat Taylor last night 6-0 for another conference win. Makenna Brooks had a hat trick, Lydia Hertzog had 2 goals and an assist, and Brooklyn Brooks scored a goal and an assist. Then Claire Hapner, Emma Gibson, and Emma Early each had an assist and Julia Salkie had one save. Outstanding job ladies! Their next contest is Thursday at Northwestern – go get ‘em ladies!

Monday September 26, 2022

The boys cross country team placed 25th in the closed division at the Culver Academies Invitational on Saturday.  Obi Greene led the team with his 27th-place finish, setting a 31-second personal record of 17:58.  Amos Greene, Reagan Long, and Gavin Sonafrank also set new personal records, while Sam Duke put in a season best performance.  Great job, Comets!

The girls cross country team placed 16th in the closed division of the Culver Academies Invitational on Saturday.  Ava Kantz led the team with her 24th-place finish in 22:04.  Hailey Rose raced to a nearly 4-minute personal record, and Maddie Wyrick also set a new personal record.  Addie Conner also raced a season-best time.  Congratulations, Comets!

 The Lady Comets beat Blackford on their senior night 6-0. Lydia Hertzog had a hat trick and an assist, Claire Hapner scored 2 goals, Brooklyn Brooks had a goal and an assist, and Makenna Brooks had 4 assists. In goal, Ruby Sheets had 3 saves. They play tomorrow, Saturday morning vs. Wabash next. Keep it up ladies!
