 Eastern High School Announcements

 Friday January 12, 2024

*Tuesday January 16th, there will be a call out meeting for boy’s track and field in the cafeteria at 3:30. If you are in a winter sport, are interested in track, but cannot attend the meeting, please stop by the athletic office to grab a handout.

*Anyone interested in participating in MS track should sign up in the MS office starting today. Those not participating in a winter sport will start conditioning on Thursday, February 1^st after school from 3:25-4:30. We will have conditioning on Mondays and Thursdays. Official practice will start on Monday, March 4^th.

* Reminder we will NOT be in school on Monday.

*The High School Student Council will be hosting a Winter
Homecoming/Semi-Formal Dance on Saturday, January 20, from 7-10pm in the High School Cafeteria! Tickets will be $10 and will go on sale before school in the cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased throughout the day from Mrs. Nibert’s room (room 101). Ticket sales will end the following Wednesday, January 17. Anyone wanting to bring a date from another school/not a current Eastern Student will need to pick up a permission form in the high school office. This dance is for HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, ONLY! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Nibert.

Studies show that the chances of having a movie day in class are significantly higher if a teacher is on the winning dodgeball team. Remember, there are two ways to win in this year’s dodgeball tournament: Make it to the end and win it all… or be voted as “best team name.” Submit your entry forms to the athletic office by this Friday. Reach out to Coach Shively with any questions.

Wednesday January 10, 2024

*The girls swim team picked up a well-fought victory over Northwestern last night! The final score was 98-80! Individual first place finishes came from Ava Kantz, Grace VanBibber, and Johanna Hanneken.  The 200 and 400 Free Relay teams also snagged the gold! Way to go, ladies!! The Comets swim Rochester at home tomorrow!!

*Attention High School students:  If you NEED to request a schedule change you MUST fill out the form that Mrs. Slee or Mr. Johnson emailed you.  The form MUST be completed by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9th to be considered for a schedule change.  Also, please make sure you are following the schedule that is currently in skyward.

*Any high school girl interested in playing tennis this spring we will have a call out meeting, Monday Jan 8^th right after school, meet in the cafeteria.

*There will be a FINAL planning meeting on Thursday the 4th @ 8 pm in the study hall room for all of those going on the senior trip. Please plan on attending.

Auditions for the Spring Musical “Beauty and the Beast” will take place January 2, 4, and 8. January 2 beginning at 1:30 will be all readings for character roles. January 4 will be singing and dancing auditions. January 8 will be call-backs for casting. Make sure to sign up for an audition time this week in the choir room!!!! Please remember- January 2 is a non-student school day and the first day for character role readings beginning at 1:30. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Evenson this week.

*There will be a brief informational meeting for all girls interested in participating in track and field right after school today. Please come and pick up information about winter workouts that will be starting after Christmas break and get signed up on the Girls’ Track and Field GroupMe to get updated information weekly. If you have any questions, please see or email Mrs. Kantz.

*Attention all baseball players.  Tonight’s open gym has been cancelled.  We will resume workouts next Monday at 7:00 PM.

*Lost and found will be cleaned out over Christmas break. If you are missing anything, please check that area by the end of the week.

*Any 6th grade girl interested in playing basketball this year there will be a call out meeting Thursday December 14th at 6pm in the cafeteria.

*The boys and girls swim teams both picked up victories over Tipton and Delphi last night! The boys swept the relays and individual first place finishes came from Grant Kerns, Amos Greene, Obi Greene, Reagan Long, Caden Kerns, and Phillip Beedham.  First place finishers for the girls were Ava Kantz, Audrey Higgins, Makenna Brooks, and the 200 Free Relay team of Layne Shedron, Samara Sommers, Abby Vawter, and Haven Gunderson. Great job, Comets!

*Track Off-season conditioning continues today after school.  We meet in the cafeteria at 3:30.
