9/4/25 Announcements

Eastern High School Announcements:

 Thursday, September 4, 2025

*Middle School Fellowship of Christian Students will begin today right after school until 3:50 in Ms. Carpenter’s room. Come join us for fellowship and fun.

*Spanish Club members:

Check your email and GroupMe messages for information about our September activities. If you are not getting notifications, contact Mrs. Larson. In September we have a Sidewalk Chalk event with SADD on Sept. 9 after school and on Sept. 10 we have a dining out event.  These events are in place of our regularly scheduled meeting.

*Attention Juniors and Seniors –  A representative from Ball State University will be at Eastern on Monday, September 8 at 8:30. If you would like to learn more about Ball State University, please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Friday, September 5.

*Any middle school girl interested in playing fall basketball, please see Coach Nile or Mrs. Steele for a sign-up sheet.  Sign-ups are due back by September 12!

*Any club or sport interested in having a float in the homecoming parade needs to sign-up on the sheet in the high school office.  All floats must be driven by a non-student adult driver.  The deadline for float sign-ups is Wednesday, September 10th.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Nibert.

*Homecoming week is September 8-12!  The dress up days are as follows:

Monday: Adam Sandler Day

Tuesday: Country vs Country Club

Wednesday: Hawaii Day

Thursday: BBQ Dads and Soccer Moms

Friday: Green and Gold Day

Dust off those outfits and show your school spirit for homecoming next week!

*SADD club members- check your email and join the Remind group!

*Any high school girl interested in playing basketball this year, please see Coach Nile to sign up!  Also, fall workout calendars are also available in Coach Nile’s classroom for those basketball players not participating in a fall sport.  Fall workouts begin Thursday, September 4th.

*Middle School Student Council members should meet in Ms. Warnock’s room today from 3:15-4:00. If you were not able to make the first meeting, it is still okay to attend this meeting.

* Seniors: Senior brag sheets are due today. Please turn them into Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office.

* There will be a callout for cheerleading mount man today @ 5:30 in the pool balcony. This will be stunting only!

*The boys’ tennis team swept their conference opener by the score of 5-0 against Delphi on the road last night.    This moved the varsity to 6-1 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.  There was no JV match last night. The Comets are back in action next when hosting conference rival Carroll on Tuesday.  Go Comets!

*Attention Juniors and Seniors – A representative from Butler University will be at Eastern on Friday, August 29 at 10:30.   If you would like to learn more about Butler University, please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Thursday, August 28th.

*Attention all prospective baseball players who are not playing a fall sport.  There will be a meeting today at 3:15 in the cafeteria to go over fall workouts.  If you can’t make the meeting, please see Coach Hisner to get a schedule.

*Auditions for Pride and Prejudice are happening this week! If you would like to be an actor in the play, sign up outside room 119. Any tech or backstage forms are due to Mrs. Lei by Friday August 29th.

If you are, join Mr. Hannah and Ms. Warnock for the Middle School Student Council callout meeting from 3:15-4:00 in Ms. Warnock’s room. Athletes, let your coaches know that you will be late for practice on this day if you plan to attend. Tennis coaches will already be notified.

*The Lady Comets soccer team had a BIG win last night defeating Frankfort 4-1.  Emma Budde and Haven Gunderson each scored 1 goal with Gianna Beachy sealing the deal scoring 2 goals in the second half.  Brooke Robinson shut down Frankfort’s scoring attack with 15 saves.  Players of the game were Haven Gunderson, Reagan Princell, Jenna Shidler, and Gianna Beachy.  The Lady Comets take on Peru tomorrow at 5:30. Come on out and support your Lady Comets!

*The Comet tennis team came away with a win last night against Madison Grant to move to 4-0 on the season. JV also won and moved to 3-0 on the season.  The boys are in action next when traveling to face Kokomo tonight.  Go Comets!!!

*The Comet tennis team came away with a huge road win defeating Northwestern for the first time in well over a decade.  The final score was 4-1 and this moved the team to 3-0 on the season.  The Comets are back in action next when hosting Madison Grant on Monday.  Go Comets!

*The Eastern Girls Soccer Team started the season with a hard-fought battle last night against North Miami settling to a 0-0 tie.  Brooke Robinson recorded her first shutout as the Comet’s keeper.  The coaches want to recognize the defensive backfield for playing a tough game and shutting down North Miami’s scoring attack.  Great job Lady Comets

*Drama Club is having auditions for their fall play “Pride and Prejudice.” Boys and girls should sign up as there are many, many roles for all of them!  Go outside room 119 to sign up for an audition time or get stage crew information. Audition slots are filling up!

Drama club will also be doing a workshop night TODAY at 3:15 and 5:30 in the PAC. Come join for fun games and how to audition well.

*Art club callout will be right after school Thursday, August 21st. Bring you and a friend to Miss Nile’s room to be a part of a wonderful club!
