Eastern High School Announcements

*Winter will be here before you know it, and many children will find it a challenge to keep warm. Key Club is collecting new or gently used coats to help these kids in need.  Totes are located in the high school and middle school offices. All donations will go towards Coats for Kids.

*The 2025 Variety Show Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 28 in the Choir Room. All High School students are encouraged to find an interesting, creative, fun act for the show. Acts wanting to audition need to sign up for an audition time in the choir hallway.

*Attention Juniors and Seniors  –  A representative from Indiana University Kokomo will be at Eastern on Monday, October 13 at 11:20.   If you would like to learn more about IUK please sign up with Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office by Friday, October 11.

*Middle School Student Council will be meeting today in Ms. Warnock’s room from 3:15-4:00 to discuss the upcoming dance and Veterans Day.

*Attention 6th grade boys! Open gyms for the 6th grade basketball team will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7. You must have a physical on file and be in good academic standing. There will be a parent call out meeting on October 14 at 5:45PM. Tryouts will be on October 27 & 28. If you are interested in learning more, stop by the middle school office for a flyer.

 

*Are you interested in performing and dancing on a professional stage?  Winter Guard is the answer for you.  On Oct. 28th @ 6:00 in the band room we will be holding our call out meeting.  Here all information will be given in regards to the season.  We hope to see you there!

*Drama Club will be hosting a fundraiser at Canes Tuesday October 14th from 4-9pm. Come and enjoy some delicious chicken for a great cause! Mention the fundraiser for proceeds to go towards it.

*If you did not receive your report card on Wednesday afternoon, please see Mrs. Koziel in the Guidance Office.

*The Eastern Girls Soccer Team beat Elwood 6-0 yesterday in the first round of Sectionals.  Jenna Shidler scored 2 goals with Julia Salkie, Reagan Princell, Gianna Beechy, and Maeli Petty each scoring a goal to secure the win.    Goalkeeper Brooke Robinson added to her shutout tally as the defense shut down the Elwood attack by only allowing 4 shots on goal.  Cheer on your Girls Soccer Team as they face Taylor tonight in the second round of the IHSAA Girls Soccer Sectional.  “Let’s go Lady Comets!!

*Eastern VB beat Northwestern. Savannah Smith had a solid night with 21 assists, 14 pts, 4 aces and 6 digs. Josie Odle had 14 kills and 10 assists. Kyah Hembree had 12 kills. Kenzie Appleton had 9 kills, 17 pts and 3 aces. Lauren Hendricks had 16 serve receptions and 11 digs.

*7th grade boys interested in playing basketball- there will be open gyms on Monday and Wednesday next week in the field house from 3:30-4:45.  All boys must have a physical on file to participate.   Please see Mrs. Slee if you have any questions!

*The library is hosting a scary story challenge.  The trick is that you can only use two sentences to tell your story.  Turn them into the library by Oct 15.  The winner gets a prize.

*Wednesday, October 15th is Unity Day! All high school and middle school students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to wear blue to show Eastern’s unified stance against bullying. About 1 in 5 students will report bullying at some point in their lives, but when we stand together, we can make a difference. Show your support for all students by wearing blue on Wednesday.
