Eastern High School Announcements

*Winter will be here before you know it, and many children will find it a challenge to keep warm. Key Club is collecting new or gently used coats to help these kids in need.  Totes are located in the high school and middle school offices. All donations will go towards Coats for Kids.

*The 2025 Variety Show Auditions will take place on Tuesday, October 28 in the Choir Room. All High School students are encouraged to find an interesting, creative, fun act for the show. Acts wanting to audition need to sign up for an audition time in the choir hallway.

*Attention 6th grade boys! Open gyms for the 6th grade basketball team will be held on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-7. You must have a physical on file and be in good academic standing. There will be a parent call out meeting on October 14 at 5:45PM. Tryouts will be on October 27 & 28. If you are interested in learning more, stop by the middle school office for a flyer.

*Are you interested in performing and dancing on a professional stage?  Winter Guard is the answer for you.  On Oct. 28th @ 6:00 in the band room we will be holding our call out meeting.  Here all information will be given in regards to the season.  We hope to see you there!

*Drama Club will be hosting a fundraiser at Canes Tuesday October 14th from 4-9pm. Come and enjoy some delicious chicken for a great cause! Mention the fundraiser for proceeds to go towards it.

*7th grade boys interested in playing basketball- there will be open gyms on Monday and Wednesday this week in the field house from 3:30-4:45.  All boys must have a physical on file to participate.   Please see Mrs. Slee if you have any questions!

*The library is hosting a scary story challenge.  The trick is that you can only use two sentences to tell your story.  Turn them into the library by Oct 15.  The winner gets a prize.

*Any Junior girl interested in Hoosier Girls State please check your school email for details and sign up in the HS Guidance Office by Wednesday, October 15.

*Wednesday, October 15th is Unity Day! All high school and middle school students, teachers, and staff are encouraged to wear blue to show Eastern’s unified stance against bullying. About 1 in 5 students will report bullying at some point in their lives, but when we stand together, we can make a difference. Show your support for all students by wearing blue on Wednesday.

*Congratulations to the High School Boys’ Cross Country team on a fine Conference meet on Saturday. The Comets finished in 4th place and were led by Jakob Bertoline in 17th place. Jakob earned All-Conference honorable mention. Samuel Thomas, Chase Roseberry, Alex Leopard, Kolten Melton and Logan Hober all ran personal best times.
The Eastern girls’ team was incomplete but Emme Alexander and Kaia Roemer both turned in personal best times. The Comets will run at the Logansport Sectional meet on Saturday.

*Varsity VB beat Delphi 25-12, 25-8; Sheridan 25-18, 27-25; Rossville 25-21, 20-25, 15-8 to win the HHC Tournament!
Josie Odle had a huge day with 39 kills, 7 blocks, 25 assists and 12 digs. Kenzie Appleton added 27 kills, 15 serve receptions and 14 digs. Kyah Hembree had 23 kills, 16 serve receptions and 23 digs. Savannah Smith had 49 assists, 19 pts including 5 aces. Lauren Hendricks had 33 serve receptions, 11 digs and 26 pts.

*We will have a homeroom day on Wednesday the 15th. All students will report to their homeroom. Career center students, please plan accordingly.
