Welcome to the Eastern Howard School Corporation website. We believe that you will find the information contained in this website helpful and informative.
The Eastern Howard School Corporation has two outstanding schools; Eastern Elementary and Eastern Jr. Sr. High School. Our students compete at the highest levels academically and have many opportunities for development beyond the academics with numerous co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. We are very proud to offer a world language curriculum k-12; a nationally recognized robotics team; the only high school orchestra in Howard County; and an iPad for every K-9 student to use at home and at school as part of our “everywhere-all the time” mobile technology initiative, which will be expanded in the 2013-14 school year to all students K-12. Eastern is recognized as a technology leader and our corporation has presented at the National Model schools Conference, the joint superintendent/school board conference in Indianapolis, and the State Board of Education. For students wanting to jump-start into higher education, Eastern offers collaboration with Ball State University with the “Comet College” an on-line format where we have saved parents over $65,000 in tuition costs in the last year. Eastern Jr-Sr High School has been named one of the best high schools in the United States by U.S. News and World Report for 2012-13, while our elementary school has multiple 4-star school designations by the Indiana Department of Education and has given over a dozen tours this year, including schools from Florida, Ohio, and Indiana.
Eastern encourages parents who live outside the district to consider our corporation as we do accept students who want to become part of our Comet family. Our focus on literacy is a very attractive component for parents as 99 percent of our 3rd graders recently passed the new 3rd grade state assessment while our Language Arts and Math ISTEP scores are significantly above the State averages. For parents interested in the arts, Eastern has a fantastic reputation for proving an outstanding experience in art and music with State recognition for our band, choirs, and orchestra. Our annual musical is not only one of the highlights of our school year but is eagerly anticipated throughout Howard County.

Eastern Howard School Corporation is located in eastern Howard County. The corporation schools and central office are located in Greentown, Indiana approximately eight miles east of Kokomo and forty miles northeast of Indianapolis, Indiana. The corporation is in a rural/suburban setting with easy access to employment, shopping areas, restaurants, and recreational activities. Eastern Howard School Corporation has two outstanding schools that help serve the educational, social, and recreational needs of our students and the community.
Eastern Elementary School provides an outstanding academic program for approximately 675 Kindergarten through Grade 6 students. This top-performing school has been classified an
Indiana Four Star School and consistently ranks in the state's top elementary schools in terms of student academic achievement. In addition to academics, Eastern Elementary School has a strong fine arts program including elementary band and orchestra programs. Students may participate in a number of clubs as well as elementary athletic programs. All Eastern Elementary School students receive Spanish language instruction.
