12/9/16 HS Announcements

EHS Announcements Thursday, December 8, 2016

  • Student Council is sponsoring       EHS Jar Wars once again! The Student Council’s goal is to raise money to help sponsor a family this year for Christmas. Jar Wars will be running December 13-16th.         The way that Jar Wars works is like this: Students bring in spare change and we collect it in jars in all first hour classes. Each teacher will have a specific jar with their name on it. Before lunch, the Student Council will count the money. At lunch, all containers will be down in the lunch room. A penny is worth 1 point and paper money is worth double points (5 pennies = 5 points, 1 dollar bill = 200 points, 5 dollar bill = 1000 points etc.) Why do we call it Jar Wars? Because we haven’t talked about the silver change yet. Silver change is negative points. You usually want to put the silver change in someone else’s jar during lunch hours. During lunch you can take your silver change and bomb other classes’ jars. After lunch student council will tally the negative points and apply it to each classes’ totals. The winning class will earn Dan’s Donuts on the first day of final exam day.       Make sure you bring in your spare change and dollar bills to suport a great cause next week.

Financial Aid and FAFSA Night (Updated)

The High School Guidance Office is holding a Financial Aid and a FAFSA Night. See below for details:

On Tuesday, Dec. 13th from 5-7 pm (please note the date has changed) there will be a FAFSA Completion Event here at the high school in the computer lab. I will be here along with a FAFSA trained professional to help you with your students FAFSA, answer any questions you may have, or simply to give you the opportunity to use a computer with Internet connection if you do not have it at home. If you are concerned at all about your students FAFSA, this will be very helpful for you to attend.

The event is Free and will be put by ISM College Planning in conjunction with the Eastern High School Guidance Department. As we move forward this year, there may be times you have questions about colleges, scholarships, or any post-secondary concern. Please do not hesitate to call or email me at any time. I will do my best to help you navigate this process!
