2/27/17 HS Announcements

EHS Announcements Monday, February 27, 2017

 

  • Students who have picked up a form for Driver’s Education can turn the completed forms in to the High School Office any time. We would like to begin assigning class times and drive partners. Payment for the course is not due until the first class so please turn in the registration form as soon as possible.
  • Save the date to get your glow on!  Sign up in the library for the Black Light Party on Monday, Feb 27 from 6-8 in the Community Room.
  • Austin Campbell, Ethan Campbell and Noah Connolly have been named Academic All State by the Indiana High School Bowling Association! In total, there were 23 bowlers out of the roughly 1500 high school bowlers named Academic All State.  Well done!!
  • To run Monday, 2/27 – Tuesday, 2/28 a.m. Attention Students and Staff: Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 is Fat Tuesday, or more descriptively, Mardi Gras Day. In celebration, the Library is giving a surprise to each person who comes to the library and asks, as long as supplies last. There is just one to a customer. “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” which translates to the Mardi Gras phrase, “Let the good times roll!”
  • Congratulations to our band students who performed at State Solo & Ensemble contest this weekend. Everyone who performed earned a gold rating! Those students are Sam Everling (flute), Noah Connolly (oboe), Levi Hanny (bassoon), Allison Salkie (tenor sax), and the sax quartet of Shelby Comfort, Zach Connolly, Allison Salkie, and Kaylee Stants.
  • Kaitlin Adair (violin) and Erin Matheny (cello) both won Gold medals at ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble today. I’m sure there will be several more from the band and choir too.

 

2/24/17 HS Announcements

EHS Announcements Friday, February 24, 2017

  • If you indicated your desire to go to KACC next school year, please see Mrs. Miller, in the Guidance Office by the end of the day today (Friday).  There is important paperwork that needs to be picked up, completed and returned!
  • Prom is coming up and if you are still in need of a dress, please take the time this Sunday to attend the first Annual Swap & Shop in Kokomo. Girls can donate their gently used long and short dresses along with shoes.   You will have the opportunity to try everything on before purchasing! The sale will be from 2-5pm this Sunday the 26th at Dance Elite in Kokomo and a portion of the proceeds will go to a local charity.
  • Read 2/24/17 Everyday next week, yearbook will be hosting a promotional event during both A & B lunches. The first 15 students to fill out an order form and pay for their yearbooks at lunch will receive a $5 Subway gift card! Don’t miss your chance, get your yearbook for $45 next week!

  • The 2017 Summer Driver Education course at Eastern High School is scheduled to begin on June 5, 2017.  To be eligible to enroll in Driver Education, a student must be 15 years old by June 5, 2017.  Students will receive 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of driving instruction as per state law. Students can pick up an informational letter in the high school office.

  • There will be an open gym on Wed evening from 5:30-7:30 in the Aux gym for all girls interested in playing high school volleyball next year.

EHS Announcements Tuesday, February 21, 2017

  • Congratulations to Evan Ellis on winning the heavyweight wrestling State Championship this weekend. Evan is the first ever wrestling state champion at Eastern! We will be celebrating with Evan on Wednesday afternoon.
  • The 2017 Summer Driver Education course at Eastern High School is scheduled to begin on June 5, 2017.  To be eligible to enroll in Driver Education, a student must be 15 years old by June 5, 2017.  Students will receive 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of driving instruction as per state law. Students can pick up an informational letter in the high school office.

  • Please announce Friday, Monday and Tuesday     Join the library as we explore the Japanese culture.  The Japanese Culture Club will be meeting after school on Tuesday, Feb 21 to discover the traditions, food and customs of Japan.  Contact Mrs. K if you have more questions.

  • Attention Seniors:  The February Scholarship list has been posted!!
  • This past Saturday several choir students participated in the ISSMA State Vocal/Piano Contest. The following students received medals…..In the Vocal Solo Category GOLD medals were awarded to: Zoie Lowe, Eric Hall, Katrina Witt, Nate Moore, Zach Connolly. In the Ensemble Category a GOLD medal was awarded to: Ensemble of- Allison Salkie, Adrienne Salkie, Caitlin Laubsch Ensemble of- Kaity Alexander, Molly Ward, Emma Shelton, Molly Connolly, Kinzie Moore, Sydney Querry SILVER medal was awarded to: Barbershop Ensemble of : Emma Shelton, Deanna Hedges, Kaylee Stants, Kaity Alexander. In the Piano Solo Category a SILVER medal was awarded to: Molly Hapner. Congratulations to all these students for representing Eastern so well on Saturday!

  • Attention Seniors! Baby pictures for our last yearbook are due on February 14th. Please bring in a picture of yourself between the ages of 2 and 6. Please give pictures to Ms. Meador, Emily Robbins or any yearbook staff member. Don’s miss your chance!
