EHS Announcements for Wednesday, August 24, 2016

  • Please announce the following Wednesday (8/24):   Do your parents give you the third degree about where you are after school and who you are with?  Gain the trust of your friends and family and join SADD.  Call out meeting is Thursday, August 25th at 3:15 in the Library Community Room.  Come join us for fun games, food and a dedication to make a change!  Your parents will trust you knowing you can say no to drugs and other destructive decisions.  See you there!!!!
  • Spanish Club Members – order your T-shirts in Ms. Larson’s room or from Megan Mentis by Friday, Aug 26. The cost is $12 or 2XL is $14. Money is due by Monday, August 29th.

Art Club Call Out

“Ready to join a fun and productive club?!” Come to the art club call-out meeting on Thursday, August 25th, from 3:15-3:45. Oh, and did I mention there will be food? EHS Announcements for Tuesday, August 23, 2016

    • Congratulation to this year national honor society officers.  President – Jonathon Carter,  Vice President – Ally Wimmer, Secretary – Kaylie Forgave, and Treasurer – Ashlynn Hochstedler
    • FACS Club will have a call out meeting immediately after school tonight, in Mrs. Bishir’s room 131.  Pizza will be served!

    • Attention Seniors!  If you are planning to apply for the Lilly Endowment Scholarship, please be sure to check your e-mail for important deadline changes! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Miller in the Guidance Offic

  • Are you a good speller or just want to be a part of a group? Join the high school Spell Bowl team! Plan to attend a call out meeting on Tuesday, August 23 at 7:45 am in Ms. Thompson’s room (Right by tech). If you are unable to attend the meeting, email Ms. Thompson. Hope to see you there!
  • Seniors – If you are going on the Senior trip please plan on attending the meeting on Tuesday August 23 at 8 p.m. at least one of your parents must attend our informational meeting.
  • The girls cross country team finished 8th in the Logansport Invitational on Saturday, led by the 40th-place finish of Molly Hapner in 24:27. Returning runner Catie White put in a strong performance as well, and Olivia Vogl, Vivie White, Grace White, and Shay Bailey each ran very well in their first 5k race. The boys cross country team finished 10th and were led by the near-personal record performance of Josh Reprogle, who ran 19:43 to place 31st. Macaiah White, Seth Snyder, Alex Morrow, and Ethan Shook all stepped up give the boys team their first team scoring performance in nearly 2 years. Great job, Comets!
  • The boys soccer team won the Northwestern Invitational on Saturday by defeating Carroll and Northwestern. Your Comets thrashed the Carroll Cougars 8 – 1. Jumpin Joe Hawes had a hat trick and an assist. Lance VanMatre had two goals and an assist. Ben Cole had a goal and 2 assists Lucas VanMatre had a goal and 3 assists and Jacob Kolk had a goal. Then in the Championship game the Comets defeated the host Tigers 2 to 1. Coming back from a 0-1 half time deficit. Lucas VanMatre had the game tying goal and Joe Hawes punched one in for the win off of an assist from Jared Smith. The Comets are now 3-0 and will host Sectional rival Eastbrook on Thursday at 5:00.

Eastern Howard School Corporation has invested heavily in the future or your students and their education. Our corporation and our 1:1 program have hosted many site visits, presented at state and national conferences, and helped to push education in new directions. Today we are pleased to share that Apple Education has released a new document outlining the impact of 1:1 deployments on education, and Eastern Howard has contributed information to the publication.

We encourage you to check out the entire document, as it holds information from different schools about how their test scores and performance has increased through the implementation of technology in their schools. Eastern’s contribution to the publication can be found on page 13 of the document.

Our 2016 fall marching show is “The Giving Tree”.  A calendar for our fall season is available in the Documents section on the right side of this page.  It’s shaping up to be a great show and a fun season!

2016-2017 Registration Information

Eastern is preparing for the new school year. The summer, at this point seems so short! Students return to school on Tuesday, August 2nd. Registration, supply lists, and other news regarding school starting can be found right here. We will update the information and files as new ones become available. Check back often for the latest news and information!

Registration for 2016-2017 Announced

The 2016-2017 School Year Registration Dates have been announced and details have been published below.

Monday, July 25th from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Building registration is for new students, and students who do not have internet access. All returning students are expected to complete online registration.

Supply Lists/Book Fees Announced

Eastern has released the 2016 Book Fees and Supply Lists for grades/schools listed below. If you do not see the supply list/fee list for your student’s grade then it has not yet been approved.  Please note: Kindergarten is provided for free. There are no book fees associated with Kindergarten, however the required supply list is still listed below. Additionally the Middle and High School have released a fee schedule at this time. When supply lists are published we will link them here.

Looking For The Official Calendar?

Delphi C5 Rube Goldberg Challenge

Eastern High School was victorious today at the Delphi C5 Challenge- making this the third straight year Eastern has won. Eastern and other Howard County schools were challenged to make a Rube Goldberg-like chain reaction machine that would have the task of presenting a tour of Howard County automotive history. Funds were also collected at the event to help support United Way. Team members included boy and men geniuses Zach Johnson, Austin Campbell, Ethan Campbell, Austin Bergman, and Cameron Wright. Brandon Mink served as team sponsor.

Delphi Rube Goldberg Challenge

Spring Sports Awards Program is June 6 at 6:30pm in the PAC.

Cheerleading Tryouts will not take place until a new coaching staff is hired and can prepare to hold tryouts.
